Kerala Chief Minister
Oommen Chandy today termed as baseless CPI(M)s charge that
Congress-led UDF government was trying to destroy Kudumbasree,
the women's Self Help Group for poverty alleviation programme
by promoting pro-congress 'Janashree Mission'. Government was committed to protect 'Kudumabsree' which has
become a role model for the entire country, he told reporters
after cabinet meeting. On CPI-M charge that government sanctioned Rs 114 crore to
Janashree Mission, reportedly controlled by Congress
spokesperson M M Hassan, without following union government
norms, Chandy said fund was allotted as per rules. Any SHG that comes forward for such noble causes would be
promoted by the governmemnt,he said adding government did not
wish to have A monoply in such programmes and schemes. Chandy said CPI-M charge was unfortunate and the party was
politicising the Kudumbasree issue. Meanwhile, the dharna in front of secretariat by Kudumabsree
Protection Council activists entered the second day today.
