CHENNAI: A woman, who was allegedly seen walking in the nude near Pallavaram on Tuesday, was not involved in witchcraft, police said on Thursday.Meenambakkam Assistant Commissioner of Police S Vijaya Kumar told Express that the 25-year-old woman, who was reportedly seen walking without any clothes at midnight, did so due to “depression.” The girl slipped into depression after she was ditched by her lover, the ACP said. Her parents, who arrived here to take their daughter back to Cheyyar, Tiruvannamalai, told the police that she was suffering from depression for the past one year. A member of the Dalit community, the woman was allegedly involved in a relationship with a caste Hindu. Sub-Inspector Saisikala, who spoke to her parents, said the woman became dejected since she could not get married to her lover owing to caste differences. Her parents had earlier sent her to her sister’s house at Pozhichalur.
