Bhopal: After being acquitted in a fake passport case, Monica Bedi is now dreaming big. The former starlet now wants to get back to her first love — acting.
Bedi, known as a close associate of Abu Salem — the prime accused in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case — is likely be a free bird soon after spending about two years in jail.
The former starlet made clear her intentions to return to Bollywood and behind the grease paint during an interaction with the media on Tuesday. "I would like to continue in films," Bedi said of her life after jail.
She is, however, not ready to jump into it as yet. "I have not planned anything as yet," she says.
Bedi had made her film debut in Taj Mahal and then went on to act in about a dozen films including Pyaar Ishq Aur Mohabbat, Jodi No.1, Jaanam Samjha Karo, Kaala Samrajya, Tirchhi Topiwale, Zanjeer, Ek Phool Teen Kante, Khilona, Aashiq Mastana and Surakshaa.
In Jodi No. 1, Monica had acted opposite Sanjay Dutt before the law caught up with her. Now with the Bhopal court granting her a new lease of life, we may see her back on the big screen again minus the Bhai's backing.
And even before she is out of jail, offers have already started coming in for the former starlet. "I have got some offers," Bedi says. "But I don't want to disclose it now."
Bedi had been arrested in Lisbon along with Abu Salem in 2002 for entering Portugal with forged documents.
After years of legal battle, they were deported to India in November 11, 2005, after India promised Portugal that Salem would not receive death sentence. Bedi was acquitted of all criminal charges by a Bhopal court on July 16, 2007 due to lack of evidence against her.
