Paes-Shaughnessy enter mixed doubles final
Paes has entered the final of a Grand Slam with Shaughnesy for the first time.

New Delhi: Leander Paes is keeping the Indian flag flying high in the US Open.

Paes and Meghan Shaughnessy have made it to the finals of the mixed doubles event at the last Grand Slam of the year at the Flushing Meadows.

The Indo-American pair got the better of Liezel Huber of the US and Jamie Murray of Britain.

Even though Paes and Shaughnessy lost the first set in a tie-breaker but then came back to take the second set 7-6.

They finally won the match 6-7, 7-6, 10-5.

With the win Paes has entered the final of a Grand Slam event with Shaughnesy for the first time.

Paes has earlier won three mixed doubles titles at Grand Slams partnering Martina Navratilova and Lisa Raymond.

Mixed doubles semi-finals: Meghann Shaughnessy, United States, and Leander Paes, India, def. Liezel Huber, United States, and Jamie Murray, Britain, 6-7 (4), 7-6 (5), 10-5 tiebreak. Victoria Azarenka and Max Mirnyi, Belarus, def. Yan Zi, China, and Mark Knowles (3), Bahamas, 7-6 (5), 6-4.
