Kabul: Afghan President Hamid Karzai claims that Pakistani agents were behind the bombing of the Indian embassy in Kabul. Even US president George Bush has promised to look into these allegations.
Afghan president Hamid Karzai had earlier said, " We know who martyred the people of Deh Rowoud and we know who martyred the people in Kabul (referring to Taliban attack on Indian embassy) Now this has become clear."
"We have told the government of Pakistan that the killings of people in Afghanistan, the destruction of bridges in Afghanistan are carried out by Pakistan's intelligence and Pakistan's military departments," he added.
Strong allegations and claims made by the Afghan president haven't been ignored even by Pakistan's long term ally the US President George Bush has promised to investigate.
''First of all, we will investigate his charge and we will work with his service to get to the bottom of his allegation,'' said president Bush.
''Some extremists are coming out of parts of Pakistan into Afghanistan, and that is troubling to us, it's troubling to Afghanistan, and it should be troubling to Pakistan,'' he added.
The concern is being reflected in the US election campaign too with Democrat presidential nominee Barak Obama calling Pakistan's tribal areas a 'terrorist sanctuary', but Pakistani leaders continue to claim innocence.
Nawaz Sharif: "I think Pakistan is very sincere in its desire to have good relations with India. And our coalition, with People's Party with Asif Zardari, are pursuing this path," said Pakistan Muslim League leader Nawaz Sharif.
When asked if he thought the allegations made by the Afghanistan government on this bombing are baseless, Sharif replied, "It appears so."
In the face of the bombing at the Indian embassy in Kabul, Sharif says he is committed to having good relation with India but the situation on the ground in Afghanistan maybe different.
Independent groups have been warning that Indians are increasingly being targeted - partly because of Indias' popularity in Afghanistan. And its clear New Delhi will have to ramp up its security infrastructure there at the earliest.
