Witness in Mumbai attacks case missing, skips court

New Delhi: Even after the Interpol Red Corner Notice against the 26/11 terror plot mastermind Hafiz Saeed, Pakistan has yet again dismissed as inadequate the proof supplied by India to prosecute Saeed and maintains that 26/11 would not have happened had India shared prior intelligence about the attack.

Although Pakistan hints at shared intelligence, the Indo-Pak dossier diplomacy doesn’t seem to be working at all.

Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik while talking to media said, "Regarding the Red Corner Notice you are talking about on Hafiz Saeed, my respected Interior Minister of India yesterday has responded that he was disappointed with my statement. I must say that I never make such statement where should be disappointed. I have only said we want tangible evidence which can stand in the court of law."

Meanwhile, for now, South Block is banking on continued international pressure on Pakistan to force it to act tougher on Saeed.

The Red Alert by the Interpol should make India hopeful that the international opinion will mount on Pakistan and that it will heed to the world opinion and will go to prosecute Saeed

Hafiz Saeed's trail has now become a touchstone of India-Pakistan relations, the Joint statement at Sharm-el-Sheikh notwithstanding. Pakistan's failure to move on him so far could impact on the foreign secretary's meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly and thereafter the foreign ministers.

What's your reaction?
