New Delhi: Pakistan government on Tuesday sacked the controversial Intelligence Bureau chief Brigadier Ijaz Shah.
Shah, a close confidant of Pervez Musharraf, was accused by Benazir Bhutto of plotting to kill her.
Shah was appointed chief of the IB in 2004. He has been accused of using his office to politically victimise Musharraf's opponents.
Shah was reportedly one of four persons named by Bhutto as prime suspects in the suicide bomb attack on her homecoming procession in Karachi on October 19 last year.
Bhutto was killed in another suicide attack in a pre-poll rally on December 27 in Rawalpindi.
Shah paid a farewell call on caretaker Prime Minister Mohammedmian Soomro on Monday.
Soomro expressed appreciation for Shah's service and wished him success for his future, a government statement said.
