HYDERABAD: Patolla Goverdhan Reddy, an accused in the killing of former minister Paritala Ravi and founder of Revolutionary Patriotic Tigers, was murdered brutally in daylight in the heart of the city on Tuesday. His associate, who was travelling along with him in an auto-rickshaw, managed to escape.In what appears to be a preplanned attack, four motorcycleriding men intercepted the auto near Aditya Hospital at Boggulakunta around 3.30 pm and inflicted multiple stabs on him, killing him instantly.Police, quoting eyewitnesses and auto driver, said Goverdhan Reddy and his associate hired an auto near Telugu Akademi at Himayatnagar and asked the driver to take them to Ramnagar. As they reached near Ramnagar, they asked the driver to take them to Abids."Passing through Boggulkunta, the occupants asked the driver to take them into a small lane near Aditya Hospital. As the auto was about to come to a stop in the lane, four assailants on two bikes came and pounced on Goverdhan Reddy,'' police said, quoting the auto driver, Ahmed. One of the assailants first thrust his sword into the auto, caught hold of Reddy's head and slit his throat. They then stabbed him repeatedly. Goverdhan Reddy suffered 13 stab wounds two on the neck, two on the chest, six on the back and three on other parts of the body.The whereabouts of the associate, who was accompanying Goverdhan, was not known after the attack. Police also suspect if he was also involved in the conspiracy to kill Goverdhan. According to sources, Goverdhan Reddy had called up his wife a few hours before the attack and told her that he would be back home soon.Police sources said Goverdhan Reddy, who hailed from Tandur in Ranga Reddy district, came out of prison nearly five months ago. Ever since, he apprehended threat to his life from various forces including the police.
