BHUBANESWAR: A woman of Paikanagar area of the City had a close shave when a pellet hit her hand while she was drying clothes on Sunday morning.Immediately, Samita Das, the victim, could not realise what had hit her. She was rushed to a nearby clinic where the doctors found that a foreign substance was lodged and conducted a minor surgery to remove the pellet. Police have seized the pellet. A complaint has been lodged with Nayapalli Police. The incident occurred at about 9.30 am when Samita was on the terrace of her house. “Initially, she thought she was hit by a stone or some kind of a similar object.She was bleeding and we took her to a private nursing home,” her husband Parthasarathi Das said.The pellet, less than one inch in length, was pointed in shape which led the Das family to believe that it could be a bullet. However, police said it may have been pellet used for toy guns.Samita was lucky to escape with minor injuries. Her husband said the pellet missed her face by about six inches.The origin of the pellet is being investigated by police.
