Ahead of a senior American diplomat’s visit to Islamabad to convince General Musharraf to suspend the Emergency, the Pentagon has said that it is not worried about Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal falling into the hands of jihadis.
The Pentagon has also expressed confidence in the Pakistani army’s ability to safeguard its weapons.
The comment came mere days after a senior American general had termed the issue a “primary concern”.
General Musharraf had responded with a stinging rebuke.
