Yadav said there was a conspiracy to eliminate him, his son Akhilesh and party general secretary Amar Singh.

New Delhi: The daylight murder of one of Samajwadi Party’s members seems to have unnerved Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav.

Yadav on Sunday said that ahead of the upcoming UP elections, there was a conspiracy to eliminate some of the top leaders of the party.

Yadav, made the statements in a Holi Milan programme in the Auriya village - said some political parties were "conspiring to eliminate" him, his son Akhilesh and Samajwadi Party general secretary Amar Singh to ensure his party ceases to exist.

"They (opposition parties) are also trying to lodge me and Akhilesh in jail after filing chargesheet during the Assembly elections and that is why my bank details are being sought," Yadav was wuoted as saying by news agencies.

The CM outrightly accused Congress and other Opposition parties and sought the support of people, saying he and his family were facing trouble.

However, Yadav said he will not approach CBI as regards the case as he had “no faith in the organisation.”

"I respect the judiciary but do not have faith in the CBI and that is why I will not give any statement to it," he was quoted as saying.
