Chandigarh: High alert was sounded in Pathankot after three men were spotted roaming suspiciously in a car in Bamiyal area in Punjab on Wednesday night.
Bamiyal is close to Indo-Pakistan border and it is the same area that was used by heavily-armed Pakistani terrorists to infiltrate and carry out attack on the key Pathankot IAF base in Punjab on January 2.
Police sources said, three men in a car managed to flee after being challenged by the local people.
"There was a specific input about the presence of some suspicious men roaming in the area. A massive search operation has been launched in the area. Some areas have been cordoned off on Pathankot-Dalhousie road to locate suspects," he said.
It was learnt that the Army has also been alerted.
