New Delhi: Delhiites woke up to a chilly morning Friday with mist and light showers. The weather department has predicted foggy days ahead.
Although Delhi received just 2.6 mm of rain till morning (0900 hrs IST), the continuing drizzle fogged up the city, an official at the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
The minimum temperature recorded on Friday morning was 17 degrees Celsius, five degrees above the average in the past years.
"The minimum expected during the day is 16 degrees Celsius. The expected maximum is 25 degrees Celsius," the official said.
Humidity was in the above 90 per cent range, the official added.
"There will be cloudy sky during the day with possibility of rain and thundershowers. The fog is likely to continue in the coming weekend also."
According to the IMD, the chill in the weather is also due to cyclonic rainfall on the southern and western coasts. Snowfall in north Jammu and Kashmir also resulted in the rain in Delhi.
With a minimum of 15.6 degrees Celsius, Delhi witnessed the coldest November day in five years on Thursday.
