In a major development in the arrest of underworld gangster Chhota Rajan, sources on Friday said Rajan was never close enough to, India's most wanted criminal, Dawood Ibrahim, to give any useable information on him.
The sources have told CNN-IBN that Rajan is a shadow of his former self and has already exhausted his information sources on Dawood.
Earlier, sources had revealed that Rajan struck a deal with intelligence agencies for arrest. According to the sources, he was used by intelligence agencies to keep a close tab on Dawood Ibrahim.
After his fallout with Dawood, it is widely believed that Rajan sold his loyalty to the intelligence agencies. In 2000, Dawood's henchmen carried out an attack on Rajan which he survived but his health began to deteriorate. He has been undergoing dialysis since 2010. Dawood's men reportedly made another attempt on Rajan's life earlier in 2015 in New south wales.
Meanwhile, Rajan wrote a letter to Indian authorities in Bali saying that he feared for his life, said sources. Rajan also wrote that the medical facility in Bali was not good.
The arrest was made on a tip off from Australian police that 55-year-old Rajendra Sadashiv Nikalje alias Mohan Kumar alias Chhota Rajan has flown from Sydney to Indonesia's popular tourist destination Bali.
