Rao, Venkatachaliah get honorary degrees

PUDUCHERRY: Indian Ambassador to the United States of America Nirupama Rao and former Chief Justice of India Justice MN Venkatachaliah were conferred  with Honorary Degree of Doctor of Letters (honoris causa)  by the Pondicherry Central University during its twenty-second annual convocation on Saturday.Rao was conferred with the degree in recognition of her contribution in building the image of the nation as an Indian diplomat. Justice Venkatachaliah was conferred with the degree in recognition of his outstanding contributions to Indian judicial system.VC JAK Tareen said that the university had reached the threshold of growth and quality to take a big leap ahead to emerge as a global university
