KOCHI: The photo exhibition organised as part of the Wildlife Week celebration at the Mangalavanam bird sanctuary concluded on Saturday. At least 600 people visited the seven-day photo exhibition. Almost 150 still and action photos of bird and animal species living in different habitats across the country were exhibited for the public. Various photographers from across the state are invited every year to exhbit their talents. This year, freelance photographer and architect from Thrissur Praveen Mohandas hogged the limelight with at least 104 photos he took during his journeys to various wildlife sanctuaries in the Indian sub-continent being displayed at the exhibition. Photos of Langurs playing at the Thadoba Tiger Reserve in Maharashtra, wild tigers feeding on their prey at the Corbett National Park and a lioness contend with her cub at the Gir National Park in Gujarat caught at rare moments brougt life to the pictures that were taken with the precision of an expert photographer. Also, rare photos of birds and smaller animals such as the Egrets living in the Kole Wetlands of Thrissur and a wild dog chasing a Sambar deer at the Parambikulam Tiger Reserve were displayed. There were also stills of animal and bird species caught from the Ranganthittu bird sanctuary in Karnataka, Bandipur Gir Reserve in Assam, Greater Rann of Kutch in Gujarat and the Valparai forest ranges of Tamil Nadu. The exhibition also saw hundreds of school children from Kochi visiting the photo display.
