BHUBANESWAR: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has ordered administrative probe into the group clash at Kodala in which two persons lost their lives. The Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC), South, will conduct the probe. While Additional DGP Sanjeev Marik has been asked to rush to the spot, the inspector-in-charge of Kodala Police Station and the Chhatrapur sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) have been suspended. Night curfew has been clamped at Kodala besides prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPC. The Chief Minister has announced financial assistance of ` 2 lakh each for the bereaved families. Expressing concern over the incident, Naveen said all expenditure on treatment of the injured persons will be borne by the State Government. He has also asked the district administration to make arrangements for board and lodging for the displaced families because of the clash. Naveen also announced an assistance of ` 50,000 each for those whose houses were completely damaged in the incident. Families, whose houses have been partially damaged, will get ` 20,000 each. The rival groups belonging to Marathi Sahi area on the outskirts of Kodala town and adjoining J Sachina village had been at loggerheads for a long time over old disputes. The clash took place after some houses in Marathi Sahi area were allegedly damaged when an armed mob from J Sachina village set them ablaze on Wednesday morning, police said. As both the groups fought a pitched battle using sticks, iron rods, daggers and swords, two persons were stabbed to death. Adequate police force has been deployed in the area where efforts are on to restore normalcy, police said.
