Registration and re-survey offices to be relocated

As part of the road development in connection with the Kochi Metro Rail project, the district administration has initiated steps to relocate the Registration and Re-survey offices at Ernakulam South.

The Department of Registration is looking at a plot of land owned by the Kochi Corporation at Ernakulam South, as an ideal spot for relocation of the offices.

“There is already a shopping complex built on this land. The plan is to demolish this existing shopping complex and construct a modern one,” Collector P I Sheik Pareeth has said.

“The Registration offices will function at the Revenue Tower or at rented premises till construction of the new complex is completed,” he added.

He added that the Re-survey office will be relocated to the Collectorate. The management of the St Antony’s School, Kacheripady, which will have to surrender land for the construction, has requested for financial help to reconstruct the compound wall. The school would be allotted compensation in advance.

The Collector further said that the district administration would construct the compound wall before acquiring eight cents of land from the Government Girls High School.

“Rainwater harvesting facility, cooking shed and a toilet will also be constructed at the school,” the Collector said.

“The Kochi Corporation’s demand to hand over 8 cents of ‘Puramboke’ land near Shenoy’s Junction on MG Road, for using as parking space, is also under consideration,” Pareeth said.
