BANGALORE: As admissions to medical and engineering colleges are around the corner, city police are making efforts to prevent students from falling prey to con men who dupe them by promising seats in famous colleges.
The police have decided to put up the photographs of habitual offenders, who are into the business of cheating students, on the notice boards of various colleges. The police have identified 74 such persons who have been cheating students since 2006. The list of offenders was collected from each division. East division and south division submitted a list of 29 and 15 offenders respectively. Other than this, 12 from central, six from north and four from west divisions were identified. All of them had been arrested at least thrice but had resumed the con job after coming out of jail on bail.

The police are gathering more details of such offenders to keep a track on them, as well as to publish their bio data along with their pictures.

Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime), Alok Kumar, said the department had plans to hold meetings with educational institutions in this regard.
