HYDERABAD: The state government on Monday accorded administrative sanction for release of Rs 986.60 crore for the mid-day meal programme for 2011-12. In May the central government released Rs 138.77 crore lakh (75 per cent of central share) on ad hoc basis for recurring of Central Assistance for Primary and Upper Primary classes under National Programme of Mid-day Meal during year 2011-12.As per the pattern of financial assistance, the state government has to contribute 25 per cent share from its funds towards cooking cost and payment of honorarium to cook-cum-helpers.The state government has to make additional commitment towards cooking cost at the rate of 0.95 paise for primary and 0.06 paise for upper primary classes.At a recent review meeting chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy directed the finance department to keep the release of funds to the Mid-day Meal Scheme under Green Channel.The commissioner & director of school education sought budget release order and administrative sanction for release the central assistance of `13877.09 lakh towards cost of food grains, cooking cost, transportation, honorarium to cook cum helpers and MME for primary, upper primary and NCLP during the year 2011-12 and state share including an additional commitment of Rs 5925.71 lakh.
