SABARIMALA: Arattu, one of the concluding ceremonies of the annual festival of Lord Ayyappa, would be held at the arattu kadavu in Pampa at 11.30 a m on Thursday. The arattu procession carrying the thidambu of Lord Ayyappa on a caparisoned elephant would be taken out from the Sannidhanam to Pampa at 9 a m, after the arattubali.The procession would be given a traditional reception at Pampa Anjaneya auditorium at 11 a m led by Travancore Devaswom Board president M Rajagopalan Nair.Arattu Ceremony Thantri Kandararu Maheswararu and Melsanthi G Balamurali would perform the arattu ceremony at 11.30 am.After the ceremony, the sreebali idol of Lord Ayyappa would be kept in front of the sreekovil of Lord Ganapathi for ‘para’ offerings and darsan till 4 p m.Arattu Return Procession The arattu return procession would leave Pampa at 4 p m.On reaching Sannidhanam at 7 p m, the arattu ceremonies would conclude after poojas, kodiyirakku and valiyakanikka.The temple would be closed at 10 p m after athazha pooja and Harivarasanam.Pallivetta Held Pallivetta, the ritual marking the ninth day of the festival, was held on Wednesday.As part of the ritual, the procession on a caparisoned elephant was taken out of the sopanam at 9.30 p m for pallivetta at Saramkuthi.After the ritual, the pallivetta returned for sopanam at 11.30 p m.
