New Delhi: The top seeded duo of Sania Mirza and Yung-Jan Chan entered the quarter-finals of the Istanbul Cup with a straight sets 6-3, 6-1 win over the Romanian pair of Sorana Cirstea and Agnes Szatmari in Turkey on Tuesday.
The Indo-Taiwanese pair will now take on Anna Polunina and Stella Menna in the quarter-final of the $200,000 Tier III WTA event.
Though Sania and Yung-Jan did not have a great start and lost the serve twice in the first set but came back strongly to break their opponents' serve four times.
In the next set they had no such problems and broke the serve of Cirstea-Szatmari twice to clinch the match.
However, Sania is already out of the singles event where she lost to Meghann Saughnessy of US in the first round.
