HYDERABAD: Two Crime Investigation Department (CID) officials, who had been the investigating officials of the Rs 7,000 crore accounting fraud in Satyam Computers, deposed before the magistrate at the Nampally criminal court on Monday. One of the officials, Balaji Rao explained the sequence of events that took place during the investigation of the case. He told the court about the alleged conspiracy and the precautions taken by former Satyam chairman B Ramalinga Raju and the other accused. He also explained how the accused tried to manipulate the accounts of the company over a period of several years. Later inspector Sudheer Kumar also gave his deposition. Both the witnesses were grilled by defending counsels. The investigative officials from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will also be giving their deposition later. With the beginning of the deposition by the investigative officers, the Satyam trial has reached the final stage. More than 200 witnesses of CBI were examined and after the completion of the remaining, the examination of witnesses produced on behalf of accused will begin.The Supreme Court had fixed July 31 for completing the trial failing which, the accused can approach the court to obtain bail.
