New Delhi: The case against former Team Anna member Swami Agnivesh for his controversial comments on the Amarnath Yatra is slated to come up for hearing in the Supreme Court on Monday.
The activist had earlier sought the dismissal of criminal proceedings but the court was reluctant.
Agnivesh had termed the annual pilgrimage as religious deception.
Earlier, representing Agnivesh before the apex court, Solicitor General Gopal Subramanium had contended that the statement was distorted and that Agnivesh had immediately clarified it.
He also said that the statement was not meant to hurt the sentiment of the people.
"The statement was made in the context of arrangements made for the pilgrims. The intention was certainly not to hurt," he had pleaded.
