Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Siddaramaiah charged that Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar had not taken Law Minister S Suresh Kumar into confidence in tackling Cauvery issue in the Supreme Court.
Speaking to reporters here on Sunday, he said that the Cauvery issue has become complex as the Law Minister was not asked to apprise the Cauvery River Authority.
He said that Shettar and Irrigation Minister Basavaraj Bommai have failed to protect the interest of the state.
Siddaramaiah said that the state government had committed a blunder by giving a written affidavit to CRA stating 9,000 cusecs of water will be released to Tamil Nadu and failing to send the senior counsel to appear for the state in the Supreme Court.
According to him, the state government in a bid to cover up its skin from these lapses has started accusing the PM.
On the release of excess water from KRS to Tamil Nadu, he said that the irrigation officials have stopped water from Kabini and have started discharge from KRS as inflow has increased due to release of water from Hemavathi and Harangi reservoirs.
