New Delhi/Mumbai: It was Rani Mukherji's birthday on March 21 and the light-eyed sensation chose a unique way to celebrate it.

She went to the Helen Keller Institute for Deaf and Blind in Mumbai and spent the day with challenged children there.

Rani, who masterfully essayed the role of a deaf-mute-blind girl in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's path-breaking movie Black, also received a letter requesting patronage from Director and Consultant of The Helen Keller Institute.

Playing Michelle McNally onscreen, Rani became a symbol of respect and a source of inspiration for the deaf and blind students of the institute.

But her interaction with the physically challenged children of the Institute was not limited to the days she shot for Black and her choice of birthday celebrations said it all.

As she cut the cake in a party organised by the institute kids, Rani pledged her support for them.

And, not just cake, there were gifts too. One of the students gave Rani handmade jewellery while others gifted her handmade candles and a card signed by all.

And there were other gifts too – her mother presented her with a typical Bengali gold bracelet.

What's your reaction?
