ALUVA: The Excise Department has made a major breakthrough in the case related to the seizure of spirit at Thottakkattukara by questioning Surumi, 21, of Kanjirapally, who was nabbed by the Excise personnel on Friday.Surumi alias Aswani claims to be a model from Chennai. Though, initially, she feigned ignorance about the spirit racket, further interrogation revealed that she had a definite involvement in the case. Surumi has reportedly told the investigating officers that she used to escort the vehicles that transported spirit. The officers also managed to get the details and pictures of other accused from her mobile phone. Surumi will be produced before the Judicial First Class Magistrate here on Saturday. Meanwhile, the Excise men suspect that there are four other accused in the case, one of them is from Thrissur. Special squad CI Renjith said the spirit, stocked in the workshop, was brought from Coimbatore in a lorry laded with onion. The spirit containers were then transported to different areas in other vehicles.
