CHENNAI: Here is some good news for patients with renal failure who find it difficult to foot the mounting dialysis bills. The Chennai-based Rajasthan Youth Association (RYA) Cosmo and RYA Cosmo Foundation are opening a subsidised dialysis centre at Ayanavaram, which will provide services at a cost of `400. The Shantidevi Jawaharmal Chandan Day Care and Parasmal Srisrimal Dialysis Centre has been established at a cost of `8 crore.Patients coming to the Day Care will be given access to multi-speciality consulting, diagnostic facilities, emergency care and dialysis services at subsidised rates. The pharmacy at the centre will provide medicines free of cost for the first three days of the prescribed medication period of all patients. For the rest of the period, the medicines will be sold at a discount of 15 per cent. The centre will be open between 8am and 8 pm on all weekdays and on Sundays, it will function between 8am and noon.The Centre has been equipped with ultrasound colour doppler scanner and echocardiogram machines to aid diagnosis while a 12-member panel of doctors has been appointed to provide consultations in dentistry, cardiology, orthopaedics and other specialities. The centre is expected to provide out-patient services to around 50,000 patients in a year.Narendra Srisrimal, Chairman-Mega Projects, RYA Cosmo, said the centre will cater to the large population of lower middle class families of Ayanavaram. Depending upon the response, more facilities, doctors and infrastructure will be added subsequently.
