Dubai: The success of his first film 'Band Baaja Baarat' caused a 'metaphoric explosion' in Ranveer Singh's life but the actor says he has not let the chaos affect his selection of movies.
The 26-year-old has reunited with the team of 'Band Baaja...' for his second film 'Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl', which had its world premiere last night at the Dubai International Film Festival.
Unlike his character of a Jat boy in his first film, Ranveer plays a smart conman in his latest opposite Anushka Sharma.
"I am a conman in the movie who makes women fall in love with him and then steals their money. I would say charming ladies is an art that comes naturally to me. It is a grey character but I had fun donning different avatars for the
movie," the actor said.
Recalling his days post 'Band Baaja...', Ranveer says it was a strange time and he was getting so many offers that he could have signed films for the next six years to come but decided to sit back and take one step at a time.
"There was a metaphoric explosion in my life. There was so much chaos that I did not have time to sit back and think. People were ready to sign me for next six years. I remember going through my inbox and when I saw the names there, I
thought 'this could not be my phone!'," Ranveer told PTI.
He feels that not getting carried away with the success of his first film has kept him in good stead. He recently signed a film with 'Udaan' director Vikramaditya Motwane, which brings together Anurag Kashyap and other 'cinematically passionate' people together under the umbrella of Phantom film
production house.
