BANGALORE: More than 30,000 people witnessed the Anna Hazare movement at Freedom Park on Sunday.“The Jan Lokpal Bill will be an effective tool in checking corruption in the country. The Prime Minister must come under the purview of the bill,” said Manjunath, an advocate.With a surge in the number of people attending the protest at Freedom Park over the weekend, the organizers are contemplating an increase in the number of registration tables. The movement has been successful in receiving attention of foreign students too. Laura, a student from Ohio State University, said she did not know much about the Jan Lokpal bill but she was curious to know more, as she has been reading about it in the papers.Madhusudan and Raghottam, supporters of Anna, were seen clicking pictures, who decided to put up the pictures on social networking sites. Speaking to Express, they said that the country has endured enough and it was time for not just the Jan Lokpal bill but any bill to tackle corruption.Dr Devi Shetty, Cardiologist, Vasu Dixit from Swarathma, Hiranmaya, Theatre Enthusiast and Freedom Fighter H S Doreswamy addressed the audience and encouraged them to maintain the resolve to protest for a strong Jan Lokpal Bill.But even among the enthusiastic supporters at the park, there were some, who were sceptical about the change that the Jan Lokpal aims to achieve.“It would be naive to think that the bill can change everything overnight,” said Kaushik, a working professional.
