The suspension of all the 11 Rajya Sabha MPs who were referred to the privilege committee will be revoked, ahead of the budget session scheduled to start tomorrow.
The suspended MPs have sent written apology, following which the privileged committee meeting took the decision.
The 11 suspended Rajya Sabha MPs were:
1 Shrimati Jebi Mather Hisham;
2. Dr. L. Hanumanthaiah;
3. Shri Neeraj Dangi;
4. Shri Rajmani Patel;
5. Shri Kumar Ketkar;
6. Shri G. C. Chandrashekhar;
7. Shri Binoy Viswam;
8. Shri Sandosh Kumar P.;
9. Shri M. Mohamed Abdulla;
10. Dr. John Brittas
11. Shri A. A. Rahim
Among the 11 suspended with privilege notice, six were from the Congress party, four were from the left parties and one from DMK.
The Congress MPs with privilege motion notice against them were Jebi Mather Hisham, Dr. L. Hanumanthaiah, Bye Neeraj Dangi, Rajmani Patel, Kumar Ketkar & G. C. Chandrashekhar. DMK MP M Mohammad Abdulla and four Left MPs, Binoy Viswam, Sanfish Kumar P, Dr John Brittas and AA Rahim are also on the list.
Kumar Ketkar who was also at the face of the privilege motion has himself been a member of the Privilege Committee.
Following a major security breach in the Parliament last month, 146 MPs – including members of the Upper as well as Lower House – were suspended amidst the Winter Session of Parliament. The suspended leaders were staging protests and demanding the Union Home Minister to address the issue on the security breach.
In a major security breach on the anniversary of the 2001 Parliament terror attack, two persons on December 13 jumped into the Lok Sabha chamber from the public gallery during Zero Hour and released yellow gas from canisters, shouting slogans before being overpowered by MPs.
Amid the din in the Lower House, two people — including a woman — also sprayed coloured gas from canisters while raising slogans such as ‘Tanashahi Nahi Chalegi’ outside Parliament premises.
