BANGALORE: Bangalore International Centre will hold a talk on ‘Sino-Indian Relations’ by Claude Arpi on August 19 at 6.30 pm at its auditorium. Born in France in 1949, Arpi’s real quest started in 1972 with a journey to the Indian Himalayas. Since then he has been a student of history of Tibet, China and the sub-continent. He writes on geo-politics of the region, environment and Indo-French relations. For centuries, India had Tibet as a peaceful northern neighbour, and as a result, an unguarded border. While wanting to break from the past, many thought that India and China had a common future, because of the similar colonial history.Today, relations are much more complex, but Tibet remains central to the border issue. While over the years, India has started engaging China, the author will examine the contemporary irritants and suggest some possible remedies. For more details, call 98865 99675.
