The young man named Aadhi Mahendran, from the district of Tenkasi (Tamil Nadu), participated in a national level athletics event, held in Jammu and Kashmir, last week. As per reports, the states of Kerala, Punjab and Karnataka also participated in the sporting event. More than 300 athletes took part in the event, including Aadhi Mahendran, a student from Tamil Nadu. He secured first place in the 3000 metres athletics event and was awarded a gold medal.

As per reports of Local18, Aadhi Mahendran is the son of a labourer named Kumar, a resident of the Kattalaikudiyiruppu village in Tenkasi district, Tamil Nadu. Aadhi has been a successful athlete in the past, participating in several competitions and emerging the winner.

When he returned home, the locals of Tenkasi had a warm welcome planned for their winner. The people of the district were seen adorning Aadhi with garlands. To celebrate his homecoming, they have printed out huge banners with his image, seen in the clip’s background. The young champion is then recorded taking a stroll with the locals and children, each coming up to him to extend their congratulations.

In the last Olympic games held in Tokyo, a woman from Tamil Nadu headed to the games with dreams and aspirations. She is Revathi Veeramani, who successfully entered the Indian contingent as a 4x400m mixed relay race participant. Her journey to the games was not an easy one, as she lost both her parents when she was a child. Her grandmother, a daily wage labourer, brought her up in extreme poverty. She revealed that Revathi has been an exceptional athlete since childhood, winning numerous medals since she was a child.
