CHENNAI: What impressed leaders and people across the globe and commanded universal respect was Gandhi’s qualities and kind heart. He espoused right, rather than might, and was for truth and non-violent means, Governor K Rosaiah said here on Saturday.Releasing the Tamil edition of the book “Gandhi’s Outstanding Leadership,” written by former diplomat Pascal Alan Nazarath, he said the book presents certain little known aspects of Gandhi like his contribution in ending the odious indenture system whereby almost two million semi-literate Indians were transported to far-flung regions of the world to work in sugar, tea and other plantations in conditions quite akin to slavery.The Governor congratulated the author for dwelling in depth into the leadership qualities and impact of Gandhi on the world stage.
