A 70-year-old tantrik was sent to 14 days in jail after seizure of several banned wildlife articles from his ashram complex.

New Delhi: A 70-year-old tantrik was sent to 14 days in jail by a Delhi court after seizure of several banned wildlife articles from his ashram complex.

Hari Bat Dutt alias Tiger Baba, a self-styled holy man, was arrested recently from his ashram at Trikoni Dham in New Delhi by the State Wildlife Department.

He was then sent to judicial custody till May 9 by Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sanjeev Jain.

A case has been registered against him under the relevant sections of the Wildlife (Protection) Act.

The Wildife officials also confiscated the several banned articles used as trophies in the ashram, including wild pig teeth, tiger and leopard nails, leopard and deer skins.

The court ordered all the articles to be sent for analysis at the Wildlife Institute of India in Dehradun.
