If the selfproclaimed morality preachers dared slap their victim in Kochi while imparting their lecture and if it took some days before they were arrested, their followers in the city were in for a sharper and quicker rebound on Wednesday. All credit goes to Vijesh Vijay, the IT professional who had been wise enough to act in the most unpleasant of circumstances. Though taken aback initially by the ugly-tongued queries and stinking abuses, he made sure that his wife and his motherinlaw were safe. He showed sense not to be aggressive with the hooligans and, most importantly, he picked up the nerve to have them arrested right away.

"They introduced themselves as policemen and started questioning me. One of them grabbed my collar and started talking in a crass manner. I grew suspicious and tried calling the police. They would not let me talk to the police, but still I put the call on hold,'' Vijesh told Express over phone.

"By that time, I had drawn them closer towards the residential area. When the lights were turned on, they were frightened. The police also reached on time and they were caught.'' The techie has been in the city for the past six years. "It is uncomfortable to face such situations with your family. But I trusted the police and took the course of law.'' Vijay was also all praise for the police.
