A teen was held when he called cops and threatened to bomb Parliament.

New Delhi: A Delhi-based teenager was arrested after he called up the police and claimed that al-Qaeda was going to bomb Parliament before August 15, 2007.

Nineteen-year-old Mintu Kumar Mahto made the call to police at around 2200 hrs IST on Thursday. He was arrested by Special Cell sleuths soon after, when they tracked down the mobile phone he used, a senior police officer said.

Mahto -- a resident of Panchsheel Park in the Vikas Nagar area of West Delhi -- claimed that his aim was just to play a prank and create a disturbance.

However, his attempt backfired when the police reacted swiftly and arrested him.

Interestingly, Mahto had used his brother's cell phone and someone else's SIM card to make the phone call, in the hope that he would not be traced.

The incident comes at a time when the Capital's police force is gearing up to provide fool-proof security for Independence Day.
