KOTTAYAM: Calling Prof M A Oommen a socio-economist with human touch, Revenue Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan said on Saturday that left-of-the centre intellectuals like him contributed greatly for the social reformation of the state.“We pride ourselves that Kerala is in the forefront of social and economic emancipation of the people. But there is hardly anyone who could be called a right-of-the centre economist or social scientist. Every intellectual prides himself as left-going,” he said.He was inaugurating a civic reception accorded to Prof M A Oommen on the occasion of his turning 80, at the Marthoma Theological Seminary here on Saturday, Dr. George Mathew, Chairman of the Institute of Social Sciences, New Delhi, released a book titled ‘M A Oommen-the Man and the Economist’ on the occasion, and hailed him as a visionary.
