Out of 3000 applications the Karnataka government received for the annual 'Kannada Rajyotsava' award for the 57th year only 57 personalities who contributed in various fields were declared award winners. Rs 1 lakh, 20 gram gold medal and garland will be given to all the personalities on November 1 evening by Karnataka chief minister Jagadish Shettar.
Among the 57 personalities - 3 are from the cinema and theatre field. Well known producer SD Ankalagi who made the first Cinema-scope Kannada TV series in 1978 - 'Sose Thanda Sowbhagya' and continued making social films like 'Badhuku Bangaravaithu', 'Pattanakke Bandha Pathniyaru', 'Guna Nodi Hennu Kodu' and is associated with films for a long time has recently underwent a heart operation.
B Jaya veteran actress and Chindodi Bangaresh were given the Rajyotsava Awards from the theatre sector, the latter had directed films like 'Ganayogi Panchakshari Gavayi' and 'Sri Danamma Devi' in his long career beside producing films.
B Jaya, veteran of four decades has acted in hundreds of films in her career. She was more in to comedy roles. Chindodi Bangaresh receives the Kannada Rajyotsava award for his contribution to theatre. SD Ankalagi is the first producer in Kannada to make film in Cinema Scope, 'Sose Thanda Sowbhagya' in 1978.
Kannada Rajyotsava awards is to be presented by Karnataka chief Minister Jagadish Shettar on November 1. It's Rs 1 lakh cash, 20 grams gold medal and citation.
