New York: With the paparazzi stalking the school attended by Tiger Woods' two-year-old daughter Sam in Florida, the golfer and his wife Elin Nordegren have jointly apologised to the school for the "inconvenience'' caused by the media attention.

The Premier Academy in Windermere, Florida, has been hounded by the paparazzi - eager to catch glimpses of Woods' daughter - since the serial sex scandal linking him to 19 women broke in November. A policeman has been stationed outside the school to keep a watch on the paparazzi.

According to a Florida TV network, photographers were also spotted near the school when Woods was apologizing in a televised appearance Friday.

In a letter, both Woods and his wife have apologized to the parents of kids for the media attention the school is getting because of the scandal.

"We would like to share our appreciation for your support over the past several months and offer our personal apology for any convenience you are experiencing due the increased media scrutiny surrounding our children. We truly understand how frustrating it can be,'' the couple said in their letter.

"We hope that the paparazzi will find something better to do with their time in the near future. In the meantime, it is our goal to keep life as normal as possible for our children. We are sure that as parents you can appreciate that. For Sam, that normalcy means attending the school that she enjoys so much,'' Woods and Nordegren said in their letter of apology to the school.

In his televised apology on Friday, Woods had criticised the media for hounding his family.

"However, my behavior doesn't make it right for the media to follow my two-and-a-half-year-old daughter to school and report the school's location. They staked out my wife and they pursued my mom. Whatever my wrongdoings, for the sake of my family, please leave my wife and kids alone,'' Woods said.
