MADURAI: Suspended headmaster of Government High School in Podhumbu had surrendered before the court only after the pressure exerted from State top administration.A fax from the State top administration to arrest Arockiasamy was received by the District Administration and the Police Department on Tuesday afternoon.  Meanwhile, the accused surrendered before Judicial Magistrate Court and was remanded.The report from the Child Welfare Committee, a State body, after the intervention of Madurai Bench of Madras High Court, had recommended the transfer of teachers from that school for their collusion with the accused.  Proposal to transfer two of the teachers had been forwarded in this connection.The report also had revealed some stunning revelations regarding the nature of the child abuse which could not be published.The report pointed out that the school teachers had reprimanded the students for tarnishing the image of the school as the victims explained what happened to the Revenue Divisional Officer on the day of the road roko staged by AIDWA for the arrest of the accused.  The attitude of the teachers was strongly condemned by the parents and as well as AIDWA.The report further stated that the headmaster would threaten the students stating that he would give a bad conduct certificate which would ruin their lives if they do not relent to him.Other recommendations of the report include compensation for the victims and to ensure that it was not repeated in future and also criticised the teachers for letting up the issue happen without bringing it to the knowledge of the higher officials.It had also recommended appointment of a woman as school head until the trust was built among the girl students.On the lines of victimisation, the report had enlisted the fear factor, depression, crying in loneliness, feeling the brunt of orphanage, effect of defamation in front of other students and the fear of break in education if the issue was brought up to the parents.
