TNIE gets I(Eye)Care Award

CHENNAI: The New Indian Express was honoured by the Lions Club of Central Madras in appreciation of its contribution towards eye donation movement with the I(EYE) Care Award, keeping with Helen Keller Remembrance Day on Friday.To encourage and support eye donation movement, every week, TNIE published profiles of eye donors with their photographs in its Chennai edition, since 2004. Lion S N Hari Narayanan, chairman, Projects and Sight, of the Lions Club of Central Madras said, “For the past eight years, Express is supporting our movement. Every week they published at least a minimum of 20 profiles of donors along with their pictures. Never did they say ‘no’ to us. This has gone a long way in motivating more people to donate and give sight to others.”
