The state government on Tuesday shunted out Tom Jose from the post of Managing Director of Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL).
The decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting here.
It was decided to give additional charge of the Kochi Metro to Elias George, who is currently the Power Secretary and also serving as the KSEB Chairman and Transport Commissioner.
The Cabinet has also nominated four officials to the director board of the KMRL, including the Chief Secretary, Law and Finance Secretaries apart from the new MD. One post has been kept vacant in the restructured director board.
The Centre had already nominated five members to the 10-member board.
However, mystery continues to shroud many aspects related to the ambitious Kochi Metro Rail Project, which has been handed over to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation.
Jose was allegedly at loggerheads with the DMRC and Principal Adviser of the Kochi Metro project E Sreedharan.
Jose has been appointed as PWD Secretary.
