Nineteen tribals were shot dead on the outskirts of Singawaram in Chattisgarh.

Chhattisgarh: Nineteen tribals were shot dead on the outskirts of Singawaram allegedly by a group of hundred plus people. This group included local police and special police officers, the ambiguous actor in Chhattisgarh to fight the Maoist threat.

The local police called it a genuine encounter while the villagers called it a fake encounter by Salwa Judum members.

The Raman Singh government instituted a magisterial enquiry into the killings after public pressure.

However, villagers were not convinced and approached the Bilaspur high court which has now issued a notice to the State government, Home Secretary N.K. Aswal, DGP , Viswa Ranjan, SP of Dantewada, Rahul Sharma, asking them to explain their actions.

They have to respond by the 28th of January
