Triggers development in cut-off region
Triggers development in cut-off region

The village provided them little hope for a better future. To cap it the Maoists landed here in 2003. The bane, however, soon turned into a boon.

Situated in sylvan surroundings of Chamunda gram panchayat of Jujumura block, the village saw development only in 2009 when a road was laid under MGNREGS at an estimated cost of ` 3 lakh. The 80 households were electrified last year under Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana (RGGVY).

The killing of a former sarpanch of Tampergarh in 2003 triggered development work here. The road was laid to facilitate movement of police and security forces in the block.

The villagers, mostly tribals, are candid in their admission that the Maoists heralded development in the region which till then remained cut off from the mainstream.

The village also boasts of pipe water supply from Baghlat stream which flows down the nearby hill,

While most representatives had so far reneged on the promises made during the PRI elections, the villagers long to meet Health Minister Prasanna Acharya and take up their problems with him.

Amid all development activities, the villagers caught between the devil and the deep sea prefer to keep a distance from both the police and the Maoists.
