Those who turn 18 years on January 1, 2013 can enrol themselves as voters now as the summary revision of the electoral rolls have commenced across the State on Monday. The names of those who are not included in the electoral rolls can apply for inclusion. Final electoral rolls would be published on January 5, 2013.
For inclusion, proof of address and age should be submitted along with the application form. Copy of the ration card/bank or post office passbook/driving licence/passport/latest gas or phone bill etc., may be submitted as proof of residence. Copy of birth certificate or school leaving certificate may be submitted as proof of age. Proof of age is compulsory for applicants below 25 years of age.
Except for those seeking registration for the first time (applicants in age group 18-24), all other applicants must furnish their old address and EPIC number.

Special campaigns will be conducted on October 7, 14 and 21 which are Sundays, at the designated locations (generally polling stations).
If the name of the elector is already in the rolls, but he/she has lost or misplaced the EPIC, then he/she may apply any time in the taluk office/zonal office. For inclusion of Indian citizens living abroad, Form 6A should be submitted directly to the Electoral Registration Officer concerned or sent by post.
Meanwhile, as per draft rolls published by the Chennai Corporation for its 16 Assembly constituencies, the city has 34.27 lakh voters.
Of these 17.18 lakh are men and 17.09 lakh, women The Corporation has said those wishing to raise claims and objections to entries in the draft rolls can do so by October 31.
The process, which was so far confined to the Corporation’s offices across the city, can now also be taken up at the neighbourhood branch of any public sector bank.
