VELLORE: The Tamizhaga Vanigar Sangangalin Peramaippu (TVSP) would picket the Parliament protesting against the Food Security and Quality Control Act, said Vikramaraja, President of the organisation.During a press meet, he said that the Act will affect over 15 lakh small traders. Contrasting the Act with the Prohibition of Adulteration Act, he stated that if the raw materials used to make processed foods were of poor quality, it is impossible to expect end products of good quality. “When the content of sugar in sugarcane is low, it is only natural that sweets prepared with the sugar from such sugarcane aren’t of good quality,” said Vikramaraja. He also said that it was not possible to have dust-free products unless the government provided clean roads and platforms.The TVSP would hold a state-wide fast on March 27, demanding that the Quality Control Act be revoked. According to Vikramaraja, leaders from various states would participate at the 29th State Conference at Dindigul. “Following this, we would picket the parliament,” he added.He also alleged that the act aims to handover the food business in the country to foreigners.
