BANGALORE: In a bid to help a victim and catch robbers, two police constables working with the Kamakshipalya police station sustained injuries after they were run over by robbers’ car.The injured policemen are Venkataswamy (55), police head constable and Riyaz, police constable. Jagadish (39), a resident of Kottigepalya, a bakery worker, was waiting for a bus at Deepanjalinagar at 10.45 pm with two other men. A car driver stopped near the bus stop and offered Jagadish and the others a lift.They accepted the offer and after a while, one of the men got down from the car leaving Jagadish and Sridhan, another commuter, behind.Another man sitting next to the driver then turned around and threatened Jagadish and Sridhar with a knife and robbed them of their valuables. After robbing Jagadish of `3,000 and a gold chain he was pushed out of the car near the Sumanahalli flyover. Sridhar was robbed of `4,000 in cash and pushed out of the car near Malagala. Then Jagadish saw a Cheetah vehicle and informed the police. They chased the robbers’ car and tried to block it but the robbers ran over the bike injuring the two policemen.
