CHAMRAJNAGAR: The conductor and driver of a KSRTC bus were killed on the spot when they were run over by another KSRTC bus at the bus depot in Chamrajnagar on Sunday morning. The deceased have been identified as Somanna (45) of Nagarle in Nanjangud taluk and Ghouse (35) of Bellahalli in Bidar. The conductor and driver had reported for duty and were about to board their allotted bus. Meanwhile, an employee started the engine of a bus and the brakes failed. He lost control and ran over the two, killing them on the spot.The KSRTC staff immediately shifted the bodies to the district office. When senior officers failed to visit the spot, they staged a protest blocking the Chamrajnagar-Satyamangalam National Highway. The public were stranded for hours as buses did not ply in protest against the ‘negligence’ of officials. The workers insisted that the authorities should visit the spot and announce compensation to the victims’ kin.
