Two men belonging to West Bengal arrested on charges of rape

Two persons from West Bengal were arrested in a rape case near Dassam falls, about 40-km from here, the police said on Wednesday.

"A case under section 376 of IPC has been filed against Babu Pramanik and Tarun Mallick after a forty-year-old tribal woman accused them of rape on Tuesday, Superintendent of Police (Rural) said here.

The accused were allegedly drunk and strayed from their group, which had come for picnic from Bardhaman in West Bengal. They went into some interior place where they saw the woman, he added.

"Prima facie it appears rape. We are waiting for medical tests for confirmation," he added.
